Individual Lessons

£17 per 1/2hr

Beginner students have 1/2hr weekly lessons. Eventually, around book 3-4, they have 3/4hr weekly and more advanced students sometimes have 1hr.  I give 34 lessons a year throughout the school term times.

Payment for lessons is by monthly standing order so payments are spread through all 12 months of the year.

Group lessons and concerts

£30 approx per term

There is a concert of some sort every term.  These are held in a hall or studio and provide opportunities for everyone to play in a concert of solos, ensembles, or a ceilidh.

Beginners – book 4 also have 4 or 5 x 3/4 hr @ £6-8 group lessons termly.   These group lessons are essential for all students.

More advanced players, from book 4 (Grade 5 standard) join the Dartmoor Strings group and also play chamber music.

The cost of these groups is added on to the monthly payment.

As members of the BSMA you will also have the opportunity to take part in National workshops and courses all over the country.

Instruments

£12.50 per month

You can hire really good quality instruments (worth between £200-£400) from us for around £12.50 per month that have been properly set up and maintained.

Alternatively you are welcome to buy your own violin and we can point you in the right direction.  Occasionally our other students will be selling one.

You can get a good second hand violin for around £70+ and better instruments for more advanced students for around £250+.

Please don’t buy or hire any instruments until I have measured you up for one and advised you on where to get one.

Suzuki Membership

£32 per year

As Suzuki students, you will also need to buy the Suzuki Book and CD/downloads (about £15) and become members of the British Suzuki Music Association.  This offers you access to courses and workshops all over the country, discounts off the Suzuki music and supports the training of qualified Suzuki teachers..

The Suzuki Book 1 audio is available to download from Amazon, itunes or Presto Music. The Suzuki Book 1 sheet music is available from the BSMA shop or via Amazon or ebay but please make sure it is the latest “International” edition.
